Martina

Martina, a greylag goose was reared from the egg by Komad Lorenz. In the evenings, she followed him into the house and up the stairs, mounting at right angles.

One evening Dr. Lorenz forgot to let Martina in at the usual time. When he opened the door, she thrust herself inside, ran between his legs, and skipping the right angle, started up the stairs.

At the fifth step, she stopped, made a long neck (a sign of fear), uttered a warning cry, ran down the stairs, made the right angle turn, and mounted.
